Beauty Bytes: Still Contouring…? Put That Kit Down!

I’ve taken to doing a bit of contouring with my trusty Nars Laguna bronzer this summer and I probably haven’t been using as many products as some people to achieve the uber sculpted look as seen on the Kardashians.

It seems all of a sudden people were buying bronzing powders and foundations two shades or probably more darker than their real skintone and the reality stars’ perfectly sculpted cheekbones were a desired look.

If you’ve only just mastered the endless step ritual that is contouring, you’ll either be very annoyed, or very relieved, to find out the new facial sculpting innovation couldn’t be easier.

Yes, I understand your frustration, all you need to start your STROBING journey is a good highlighter or illuminator.  There are just hundreds on the market, both cream and powder formulas deliver a radiant, candlelit healthy glow.
MAC Strobe Cream (£24), the original face luminizer is well worth a try.  If you’re looking to add subtle pearlescent highlights, NARS illuminator in Silver Factory (pictured) or Copacabana will accentuate cheekbones beautifully.  A dab on the Cupid’s bow will also create the illusion of a fuller pout.

Strobing won’t take as many steps or products as contouring.  The principle is very straight forward, many on Twitter report it’s simply just highlighting.  All you have to do is apply your illuminator of choice in the places the light hits your face.  Think cheekbones, down the nose, Cupid’s bow, centre of chin and brow bones.
For all you lovers of low maintenance beauty, strobing will achieve a lit from within glow within minutes; a far more natural look than the bronzed chisel cheeks that probably take up most of your make-up time.

Boots No7 Instant Radiance Highlighter & Benefit Watts Up!

Hitting up Boots? Benefit have bought out tons of complexion perfecting highlighters.  High Beam (dubbed the supermodel in a bottle) and Watts Up! are undoubtably two of the best you can use but if you head over to the No7 stand, the moonlit glow can be yours for under a tenner!

L’oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Primer is another high-street favourite that will no doubt play a massive part in the strobing revolution!
