MAC Lipstick in Rebel, £15.50, http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk

Berries, wines and claret hues for lips and nails compliment most skin tones when it comes to perfecting your ideal fall/winter pout and nailing velvety, dark talons for the cooler months of the year.  With a rather dull, grey September in full swing, girls, it’s time to move the corals and candy pastel tones out of your make up bag and take a move over to the dark side.  The brights you’ve had fun with in the summer just won’t cut it in the last quarter of the year.

MAC Nose For Style Mineralize Lipstick, £21

Plenty of lippies in flatters-all shades of dark red are already all over the beauty circuit, I recently watched fellow blogger/vlogger Zoella master Fall’s berry lip and combine it with a wash of shimmery gold on the eyelids.  It looks better than it sounds; because dark reds and golds both possess fiery tones, they work great together at warming up the complexion and complimenting a winter wardrobe in a really good way.  There’s a berry out there for everyone!  My current favourite is MAC Mineralize Lipstick in Nose For Style, £21, which is part of the new Haute Dogs collection.

Nose For Style is described on MAC’s website as a deep claret red, this is more wine than black-forest berry.  However, Rebel lipstick, £15.50 (also Mac) is a mid-tone plum cream packed with plenty of succulent purple undertones.  If you’re not ready to lose colour altogether this winter, berries are the alternative to black.  Think of switching to wines and plums as changing the contents of your fruit bowl to suit the season.  With this timeless trend, the same principal applies.  The offerings on the high street and at make-up counters this season are just as succulent and packed full of goodness as the superfoods they’ll remind you of.

Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Quite The Thing, £17.50, Mac, is the ultimate deep plum flecked with blue undertones.  Lip colours with blue undertones are great at creating the illusion of a whiter smile!

Ultimate Lipstick in The Scene, £21, Mac, is another shining example of the on-trend deep berry, whilst fellow Ultimate Lipstick Vogue En Violet delivers a cooler mid-tone violet.
