June is here, which officially means it’s the start of the summer. Exciting. Festival fever will soon be upon us, which means dropping those dull winter warmers in favour of some sizzling hot trends which ooze boho glamour.

Taste the rainbow and get summer party ready in these succulent multicolour Sophia Webster sandals. These beauties are so irresistible they should really come with an envy warning!

Fluorescent pom-poms and tassels are big news and will take the festival fashion scene by storm this summer, be they on wedges or flats. An unlikely comeback that’s cool, colourful and a little eccentric, this trend is a festival in itself.

Block heels meet block colour, with plenty of ditzy tassel detailing, pom-poms and laces to add an element of Coachella cool. Not only are these Aquazzura offerings easy to walk in they tick every 2017 style box. Eye catching and comfortable, you really can have the best of both worlds!

Rebecca Minkoff’s relaxed yet vivid vibe is going right in my beach bag this summer!

Happy St Patrick’s Day to everyone. What better day to celebrate our love of Ireland and everything Irish.

The St. Patrick’s parade in Birmingham is the largest parade outside of Ireland to take place.

Birmingham celebrates

Dublin is my favourite city and I feel so privileged to have made several trips to the Emerald Isle.

Grafton Street in Dublin by night

The liveliness and overall chypre feel of Dublin has always appealed to me and will continue to as I get older. It’s a city I have always loved to go back to.

Ireland inspires. It is one of the countries that has produced some of the best music, old and new and it’s also the birthplace of 24 Olympic gold medalists, 14 Oscar winners and 9 out of 10 of the world’s global pharmaceutical firms. Forbes has called Ireland the best country to do business. 1,033 companies from all over the world have chosen the Emerald Isle as their base because it remains number 1 for adaptability of their workforce. If you’ve ever been to Ireland you may have met some of the most charitable people in Europe. Ireland, 5 million people live there, but no wonder more than 70 million, including me, call it home!

If, like me, the spirit of the Emerald Isle is strong, be sure to enjoy a pop of green today.  Happy St Paddy’s!

Essie Retro Revival: Classics Comeback for Spring 2016!

Essie have re-released a six-strong collection of some of their bestselling classic shades to honour the American nail expert’s 35th birthday. There is a shade for everyone in this collection, a glitzy strong colour, a classic silky red, two neutrals and a girly pink with some duo chrome. Personally I’d have added some spice to this clan of classics by including two of my favourites, Sexy Divide (rich, deep satin purple) and Jamaica Me Crazy (Hot Pink/Shimmery Fuchsia), apart from that I’ve always been a big fan of the endless variety offered by Essie and their collections each season, all of which compliment the latest beauty and style trends effortlessly. I love the professional lacquer formula of Essie’s polishes and always found them to dry quicker than that of other brands.

Starry Starry Night is like their similar navy called Midnight Cami or their other navy hue No More Film, but with tiny glitter particles for nighttime glamour reminiscent of a magical sky.  Some sources are saying this shade launched in 1985, but some are saying 1997.  It’s no secret, this shade is a star in its own right, making headlines for years from top nail blogs to tabloid newspapers, bottles of Starry Starry Night change hands on eBay for hundreds of dollars!

Star status indeed!

Birthday suit- one of the neutrals, launched in 1981 and is part of Essie’s original 12 piece line up. 2002 saw the launch of classic Pinot Noir red Life Of The Party and Cabana Bay, a pearly white neutral, was one of the bestsellers of 2005, alongside Sequin Sash which Essie describe as a sheer glittery bronze. Bikini With A Martini, an iridescent pearly pink, is the most recent of the six, it launched in 2006.

I don’t have a particular favourite yet but if I was to pick just 2, I’d go for Bikini With A Martini and Starry Starry Night. Bikini With A Martini is just the epitome of the ultimate frosted pink shade every beauty addict wants in their nail polish collection, whereas Starry Starry night is the perfect combination of a sleek strong colour lit from within by glitter to add an element of sparkle to a sophisticated manicure/pedicure.

Starry Starry Night (left) is the hard to find spangly navy blue everyone wants to own and has had several mentions in worldwide press, while Bikini With A Martini is the perfect pearlescent pink.

If your local drugstores stock plenty of Essie, I hope the much sought after Starry Starry Night is in abundant supply, I will consider myself very lucky if I can get hold of this holy-grail blue!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Here’s hoping St Patrick’s day brings you all the luck of the Irish, whether you’re looking for the latest style and beauty must-haves or joining a parade.  If you’re in and around Dublin, why not check out one of my favourite welcoming pubs, The Oliver St John Gogarty on Fleet Street, it’s always jolly with that upbeat Temple Bar atmosphere and traditional Irish music is often played while you enjoy a drink.

Lacquer & Leather… What This Week’s Been All About!

It’s only the first week of March but I have accumulated a few new beauty favourites already from some newer brands and some not so new.

Freedom Make-Up, which has been on sale at Superdrug stores is a fairly new London brand.  I am having a love affair with liquid lipsticks and lip lacquer products at the moment.  They’re well worth a try if you want a hit of crisp colour that lasts longer than a conventional lipstick or gloss.  If you’re new to Freedom’s winning concept of professional standard products at super affordable prices, the Pro Melts Lipglosses are one product well worth a try.  I say I am not a “pink” girly girl a lot but I love a popping fuchsia lip from time to time, so Smooth and Sugar Fix were the ones I picked up on my recent journey to my local Superdrug, which also stocks Freedom’s sister brand The Make-Up Revolution.  I am so impressed with this lipstick / gloss hybrid that’s described as having an innovative “melted lipstick” formula, ten out of ten for colour pay-off, shine and general feel on lips, I was also happy with the longevity of Pro Melts.  Working closely with Freedom, Make-Up Revolution came up with a matte version called Salvation Lip Lacquer, which goes on as a cream and morphs into a matte finish for a velvety pout.  Salvation Lip Lacquers are around the same price as Freedom’s Pro Melts, £3!   A variety of shades is available from subtle nudes, bold pinks and classic red, not sure I’m brave enough to rock navy or lavender lips though!

I’m thrilled to have discovered this revolutionary brand and will be trying out more of their cutting edge products, they’ve even got a strobing highlighter similar to MAC’s Strobe Cream for a massive fraction of the price.  (http://www.freedommakeuplondon.com/)

KIKO Cosmetics Milano (http://www.kikocosmetics.com/en-gb/)  are another new-ish brand I have reviewed before on YouTube, they’re also futuristic in their approach to the latest beauty trends.  One KIKO product I can’t recommend enough is Moondust Face Powder, which is part of their Shining Star collection.  The interstellar inspired packaging alone is stunning, but look inside to reveal the most three dimensional blush you’ve ever used.  This tops other blushers I have used, it delivers just the right amount of healthy glow and shimmer without you looking overdone.

KIKO are a brand originating from Italy, pop-up cosmetic stores selling the brand have been a success, especially at Birmingham’s Bull Ring, Intu Merry Hill and in London, originally KIKO only had stores in Europe but demand for their high-performance, low price make-up gems have soared.  If you’ve not tried this brand you’re missing a right treat!

Sleek layout of a KIKO store on Regent St, London

From an early age, I developed quite a grown-up reading taste, Glamour has to be my favourite British magazine of all time, I’ve been reading it since I was around 12 years old. I love the mixed bag of style and beauty essentials intercepted by articles about issues affecting the world and their takes on the best books, film and TV is unbeatable.  Another thing I love about Glamour is their freebies, this month’s treat for readers is a complexion all rounder from Balance Me.

Radiance Face Mask is a five minute rejuvenator for all skin types which, as well as drawing out impurities, polishes away dead skin cells, gives all important hydration and smoothes at the same time.  I’ve never before tried this brand but something tells me this is one of Balance Me’s best sellers.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Polishes from left: Wild Card, Hold ‘Em, Royal Flush and Diamond Top Coat

Those of you that watch both my YouTube channels will know I’m a sucker for a great nail polish and one of the formulas I am currently loving is at home gel standard.  A lot of brands on the high-street are bringing out gel formulas you can paint on as easy as conventional nail polish, no queues at the salon or UV needed!  I’m especially impressed with Revlon’s range, Colorstay Gel Envy.  Wild Card, Hold ‘Em and Royal Flush are my favourites and the Diamond Top Coat ensures that salon quality, gel-like plump finish that lasts for days.

Thank you Topshop for leading me to discover edgy London based accessory brand Skinnydip London. I’ve seen a lot of people toting one of your futuristic clutch bags and dressing up their smartphones with the sleekest, most sparkly cases around; my favourite is clear adorned with cerise glittery flamingos!
If you like edgy, beetlejuice shimmer, plenty of glitter and pop-tastic finishing touches check out their web site

Skinnydip London Hannah crossbody bag adorned with their Plushie stickers, which come individually as initials or in sticker packs, can also be used to personalise your smartphone case!

Skinnydip London work closely with LA based NastyGal and they sure know a little Liquid Sarcasm goes a long way!

I love how Skinnydip aren’t afraid to experiment with cool shapes and structures for party bags with a difference!

Love the Pinnata cosmetic bag! (Above)

Amongst my beauty favourites this month are LA nail brand ORLY.  I just love their variety of bold colours, and I’m loving a few Essence Cosmetics goodies too!
Essence Mini Lipgloss set which contains 3 wearable for all shades, is perfect for fitting into a small bag, The Gel nail polishes in A Whisper Of Spring and On Air! Are amongst my favourites, and I just love the mini nail polishes ORLY do, especially Oui and Purple Crush!

Talking of beauty favourites, I’m also looking forward to sampling the offerings of new MAC Viva Glam spokeswoman for 2016, Ariana Grande; if the pop-star’s signature dark berry lip is a little risque for you, rest assured her range for MAC also includes shimmering pinky nude Lipglass.

My favourite weekend look was Saturday night’s ensemble of my Wallis black polka-dot vest tank top which has bows and cut out detailing to the back, with a multi layer statement necklace by Freedom at Topshop.

Album of the month for me is David Bowie’s final album, Blackstar, like any other British music fan I can’t believe such an iconic legend who inspired a lot of people is no longer with us, I’m sure his legacy will live on and continue to inspire those who love his music and individual style.  Thank you Bowie, for such an incredible gift x

Some rather exciting happenings sparkled over Wall Street in New York this week, an event tipped to have been the most glamorous and bold fashion show of the year.  If you’re not celebrating overrated Bonfire Night and have decided on an alternative treat… you’re in for a rather glitzy one if you set foot in H&M; today marks the start of the high-street store’s Balmainia!  By that I mean a rather artsy collaboration with French designer Balmain…

Put the date in your diary & don’t forget to fash-tag #Balmaination on Twitter & Instagram!

Kendall Jenner played a sterling part in the H&M x Balmain advertising campaign which was filmed aboard a subway train and also opened the mega launch of the collection in an alluring black and gold ensemble.

Kendall wowed the crowds as she opened the New York event to introduce this exciting collection.

H&M are renowned for their famous collaborations with numerous designers such as Jimmy Choo, Matthew Williamson and Lanvin.  This collection, however has to be the edgiest most glam collaboration yet, their offerings were popular amongst star attendees of the event, which was attended by Gigi Hadid, Kendall and Kylie, Lewis Hamilton, Ellie Goulding and entertainment was provided by newly reformed band The Backstreet Boys, who all looked dapper in H&M x Balmain menswear.

This monochrome art deco style dress will be just one of the key pieces of the AW15 Balmaination!  Looks amazing on Gigi!

The Backstreet Boys get well into the spirit of Balmainia!

Balmainia at H&M is excellent news for fans of the designer waiting for a diffusion line and what’s more, the pieces are near identical to their pricier predecessors.

Balmain fan Kendall’s Billboard Music Awards look can be yours at H&M!

Plenty of black, gold, monochrome and flattering jewel tones make up this collection, which will be excellent for those of you on the hunt for that perfect Christmas Day or New Year Dress.  I can’t wait to see this collection come to life in a H&M store near me!

In today’s video I thought I would share with you lot my absolutely rockin’ ensemble for a perfect autumn 2015 day.  I thought I’d give my River Island leather look Molly jeggings an outing in broad daylight as they’re normally reserved for the evening but they look effortlessly chic for a casual day with a good band or slogan t-shirt.  Moving on to t-shirts, I’ve always wanted a Ramones t-shirt and last week I finally found the Johnny, Joey, Deedee and Tommy tee of my dreams at Primark for £8.  There’s a lot of black in today’s look so I added a pop of colour with my plum skull scarf and burgundy Forever 21 rucksack which packs plenty of grunge fringing.  I’m loving berry, plum and burgundy and they really own the runway and high-street at this time of the year!

I also took the opportunity to tell you about Europe’s No1 cosmetic brand on the market.  There are many reasons why Essence Cosmetics is the top beauty phenomenon on the continent and in the UK.  I’m glad I heard about this brand last year and I think I have reviewed some of their products before.  Think up to the minute eye and lip make-up trends and an effortless salon-quality manicure in your own home, and all starting from one pound!

If you’re nowhere near a Wilko store that stocks Essence goodies, however, just visit http://www.essence.eu.

I hope you’re all enjoying my videos and if you’re on YouTube, feel free to subscribe to my channel for some cool style and beauty bytes like this one!
