Rare Accessory Alert!

I have a feeling Chanel only made a few of these rare evening cross body beauties, as they aren’t as commonly seen on the style circuit as the 2.55, Le Boy or Reissue bags. Some of these come in an unexpected shape and design that doesn’t follow the classic crowd, they’re the type of bag you would wear if you didn’t want to blend in, but instead be more of an isolated incident with your individual style.

Known for their timeless luxurious quilted designs that never date, Chanel are also good at thinking outside the box when it comes to their unique clutch bags.  Fans of their make up compacts may recognise the compact powder shaped Minaudière bags, which come in black or white.

The classic compact is just one of many shapes they have succeeded in experimenting with.

The cassette tape has to be my favourite – glossy, boxy and sturdy to hold all of your evening essentials, whilst retaining its daintiness and rock n’ roll edge.  This definitely is on my rock chick accessory bucket list!

No5 is undoubtedly one of Coco Chanel’s most successful holy grail fragrances, loved by millions of women worldwide, so it made perfect sense for them to release a clutch based on that signature bottle shape.

The Resort 2017 must have box clutch packs somewhat of an earthy vintage vibe to it that looks as though it has been inspired by a luxury cigar box, if the medallions and references to Cuba and Paris are anything to go by.  You can’t help but notice the centrepiece, the unmistakable cameo of Coco Chanel herself.

Bardot dresses, cork style heels and patent tote bags are big news, with spring approaching these are sure to take you through to the summer days & nights. There are a lot of possibilities with these looks. You could even add a biker jacket, denim or blazer for added edge and warmth, should the summer nights still have a chill in the air.

Brighten up Spring’s top trends with big blocks of bold colour. Clashing is all very well as long as the hues complement each other or match small details in your ensemble.

Accentuating one or two colours works, for example a red dress with some white accessories to compliment the subtle white patterning in the dress.

Gingham is a timeless summer trend that’s instantly awakened with a pop of bright colour and a classic accessory.  Coral shades are a modern alternative to red.  If you want to keep the look a bit quieter, gingham and tan also make a good pairing for spring and summer.

I know I am not the only blogger to constantly sing the praises of The Make-Up Revolution.  They pack the premium qualities of the most prestigious make-up products on the market, in fact, everything about their sell-out palettes is premium but the price.  I’ve picked up some of their bestsellers from Superdrug and I’ve also been click happy on their website!  My review on the Iconic Pro 2 palette makes it easy to see why this brand is a firm favourite amongst bloggers, make-up pros and general beauty addicts!

apropalette

It’s comparison to LORAC’s Pro 2 palette is bang on in terms of colours, however, it’s £6.99 dupe scores 1 or 2 points more in terms of overall impression because it has the professional brush and larger mirror the LORAC one doesn’t have.

acomparisonn

Most bargain palettes offer a sponge applicator I’d discard within a day in favour of a professional brush, well done MUR for taking note.  The fluffy end is ideal for base coverage all over the eyelid and the flat end is ideal for creating a look of definition.  The brush performs just as well as some of my Real Techniques and Lottie London eye brushes.

aiconictwo

This palette’s packaging is the type of sleek finish you’d expect to see from a backstage make-up artist and sturdy enough to hold a large mirror running the entire inside of the lid.  While not as decorative as some of it’s pricier counterparts, it’s professional presentation and performance as a versatile make-up product can’t be faulted.

Most of the bloggers I have been watching on YouTube of late have joined the Revolution and now, like me they are amazed with London’s best beauty phenomenon yet!

Today’s been kinda peaceful, filming material for both YouTube channels and chilling with my puppies watching catch up TV.  If you haven’t checked out my YouTube channels, I have a self-titled one which is mostly style and beauty and a more personal one which gives a more candid “behind the scenes” insight into what I’m doing when I’m not blogging.

Charlie, 3 and Perry, 5 months

Sometimes Charlie and Perry like to help their mom and it feels so good to involve two cute megastars!   Perry is now 5 months, he’s grown distinctively since the day we bought him home and has learned to climb up on the beds.  He’s a typical boy puppy and good at running off with shoes!

He was very interested in the making of today’s video, which is all about my favourite hair care, make-up and nail products this month…

Amongst my cosmetic favourites this month was a Bourjois gem that’s been around a good while but I’ve recently gone back to this, having tried it before.  Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation, £10.99 from Boots, has a decent coverage with built-in colour pigment technology.  With Yellow, Mauve and Green pigments, you can say goodbye to those dark circles, that dullness and those red blemishes!  It’s one of the best drugstore foundations I have used.

I’ve also been talking about Pantone colours of the year and Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Polishes in Rose Hip and Blueberry are perfect matches for Rose Quartz and Serenity!  Today I’m wearing Blueberry with a glittery accent of Essence’s On Air! (Top picture).

I hope you’re enjoying watching these videos and subscribe to my channels if you want to see more style and beauty favourites!

Candy Coloured Pantone Picks for 2016!

Ok, so I’m a little late on the Pantone bandwagon this year, but it’s come to my attention not one, but two colours are going to be around in a big way this year.

Rose Quartz is the perfect pale pink hue you may associate with a summer wedding or newly decorated girls’ bedroom.  I can’t think of a better partner for Rose Quartz than Serenity, a calming, mid-tone lavender blue.  When paired together, the hues remind me of the pastel sunrises and sunsets you can never wait to post on Instagram.  If you follow me (@vickyhbartlett), you’ll know I’m partial to the occasional dreamy morning or evening shot!

Taken one morning in October 2015

For the first time in the history of Pantone hues, it seems the focus is not on one crisp, bold colour that sharpens the atmosphere, but it’s shifted more towards modern watercolours.

Serenity & Rose Quartz integrated into sharp catwalk tailoring relax the look whilst pops of red and cobalt blue ensure it doesn’t look too wishy-washy.

Both colours have been around a while and I have a feeling these must-haves will sell-out like hot cakes!

9. Rose Quartz Nail Polish, Christian Louboutin (Nordstrom.com)

10. Marni Rose Quartz Crepe Mini Dress (Net-a-Porter.com)

This year’s Pantone Picks for me include some holy grail accessories and beauty favourites! Many designers and high street brands’ pieces of style candy proving popular.  This is a trend that will appeal to all ages.

Birkin bag by Hermes, a celebrity favourite on many a woman’s wishlist!

Still can’t decide on pink or blue, inspiration, the other VB and her baby blue Birkin!

Zoya have the perfect mani and pedi picks to take your nails into SS16 with DOT, the ultimate Rose Quartz Pink (above) and JO, the dreamiest lavender blue shade.  Can’t wait to try out these two!

Marc Jacobs has put the two colours to good use for bottles of OH LOLA! and DAISY DREAM, both of which will put a spring in your step if you’re on the hunt for a new spring/summer fragrance.

Essence The Gel Nail Polishes in Sweet As Candy and Blue Bubble Di Blue are the perfect pastel partners for the Rose Quartz / Serenity beauty trend.(www.essence.eu)

So are Avon Nailwear Pro+ colours Lagoon and Pastel Pink!

High Street brands and designers alike have cottoned onto the two trendiest cotton candy colours of the moment!

Essie Lapiz of Luxury & Pink Diamond are  also a match for Pantone 2016!  Homeware accessories and appliances in these hues will add a chic pop of colour to any room.

Rose Quartz and Serenity join 8 other top Pantone colours for 2016 set to be bang on trend!

Thank you Topshop for leading me to discover edgy London based accessory brand Skinnydip London. I’ve seen a lot of people toting one of your futuristic clutch bags and dressing up their smartphones with the sleekest, most sparkly cases around; my favourite is clear adorned with cerise glittery flamingos!
If you like edgy, beetlejuice shimmer, plenty of glitter and pop-tastic finishing touches check out their web site

 http://www.skinnydiplondon.com/

Skinnydip London Hannah crossbody bag adorned with their Plushie stickers, which come individually as initials or in sticker packs, can also be used to personalise your smartphone case!

Skinnydip London work closely with LA based NastyGal and they sure know a little Liquid Sarcasm goes a long way!

I love how Skinnydip aren’t afraid to experiment with cool shapes and structures for party bags with a difference!

Love the Pinnata cosmetic bag! (Above)

Amongst my beauty favourites this month are LA nail brand ORLY.  I just love their variety of bold colours, and I’m loving a few Essence Cosmetics goodies too!

Essence Mini Lipgloss set which contains 3 wearable for all shades, is perfect for fitting into a small bag, The Gel nail polishes in A Whisper Of Spring and On Air! Are amongst my favourites, and I just love the mini nail polishes ORLY do, especially Oui and Purple Crush!

Talking of beauty favourites, I’m also looking forward to sampling the offerings of new MAC Viva Glam spokeswoman for 2016, Ariana Grande; if the pop-star’s signature dark berry lip is a little risque for you, rest assured her range for MAC also includes shimmering pinky nude Lipglass.

My favourite weekend look was Saturday night’s ensemble of my Wallis black polka-dot vest tank top which has bows and cut out detailing to the back, with a multi layer statement necklace by Freedom at Topshop.

Album of the month for me is David Bowie’s final album, Blackstar, like any other British music fan I can’t believe such an iconic legend who inspired a lot of people is no longer with us, I’m sure his legacy will live on and continue to inspire those who love his music and individual style.  Thank you Bowie, for such an incredible gift x
