Embroidered Bags…

Gucci, Fendi, and Dolce and Gabbana have all been rolling out crossbody bags adorned with delicately stitched embroidery recently. They add a pop of colour to any ensemble. The ones I found on Polyvore will have the dainty detailing trend down to a tee!

Embroidered accessories are a subtle yet playful way to accessorize a little black dress!

LBD, Metallic Shoes & Box Clutch: All D&G!

Ponchos & Oversized Scarves…

Oversized knits made with cosy wool have been the comfiest way to look stylish all winter.  Missoni, H&M and Zara, to name but a few, have some of the best cosy knits in various colours and patterns.  Be it a poncho or oversized scarf, it is just the investment to ensure you stay snug through the January freeze in style.

Offset a bold coloured knit with a dark outfit, classic accessories and neutral shades for nails and make up to avoid throwing your look back to the 70’s and 80’s, which were the original poncho heydays!

Oversized scarf, £14.99, H&M

“Badged Up” Denim Jeans…

Sewn on patches have been big news last year and will continue to stick around.  You don’t have to be a teenager or a youngster to appreciate this playful take on a classic casual look.

This is one of the most versatile trends of the season and you can even DIY it!  A lot of stores have sold some cool sew on patches for jeans and jackets, or if DIY isn’t your strong point, there are plenty of pre-patched styles available virtually everywhere!

Jeans with patches, £29.99, H&M, Jacket, £39.99, H&M, phone case, Skinnydip London

My favourite way to wear embellished jeans is to dress them for the weekend with a biker jacket, and a small or medium handbag.

Winter White Blazer…

White has been a popular hue for jackets and blazers this winter.  Not as frequently seen as the black biker or other styles, a white jacket or Blazer is one of the trends best paired with ripped jeans and a casual T-shirt or sweater underneath to avoid repeating a look of its tackier yesteryears.

Keeping accessories simple and make-up on the more neutral side will keep the look crisp, fresh and ready to take on 2017!

It’s been an exciting week style-wise, the highlight being the new H&M store in Wolverhampton.  When asked what stores people wanted to see included in the revamp of the Mander Centre, H&M topped the list.  Wolverhampton H&M is phenomenal, it’s the only H&M store in the Midlands to have a homewares section and it also has a make-up and beauty section to rival that of a high-end counter!  If you live in the Midands, it’s a stack bigger than their Merry Hill store.  Located downstairs in the Mander Centre, it’s the boost that part of the shopping mall needed.  Just when some people complained about all of the empty shells and closed shops in Wolverhampton, the first part of the shopping centre regeneration is coming to life.

I felt at such an advantage to be one of the first shoppers to see the new store on grand opening day (yesterday), it opened at 11am and the people waiting for it to open got a wonderful discount, 25% off your purchases all day.

I knew something exciting was hiding behind these boards!

There were so many things that caught my eye, and I’m looking forward to future trips to this magical store.  I came away with a pair of relaxed slim jeans which tick several fashion boxes with a couple of randomly placed rips and some rather funky patches.  The eyeball and lips patch you can see are made up of sequins.
I also bought some glossy court style shoes which are just the right red hue for the autumn and festive season, they will be perfect for those Christmas do’s and occasions where I fancy wearing heels.  I also came away with a 3 pack of rings and one of the lipsticks from their super affordable beauty range.  I treated myself to a pillar box red shade called Classic Cardinal. There’s an unlimited shade range with all of their make-up products and their  formulas and how they feel are up there with MAC!

If I could sum 2016 up with an unlikely sounding trend, I would say that it has been the year of relaxed jeans and pointy shoes, if you’re yet to try this look for yourself, it’s so easy to pull off and looks incredibly chic, even as everyday casual wearing flats.

This week seems to have been all about red shades, I have done some of my festive preparations early this year and although it’s been a rather tough year, I think I’m getting into the spirit of the season to be jolly and joyful.

This year’s John Lewis advert, just, no words.  Buster the boxer dog, those fox cubs and all the other animals are just beyond cute.  Innocent animals dancing on a trampoline and having fun hasn’t been without criticism though, with some overprotective parents Tweeting: “give your child Tuberculosis for Christmas!” I thought some people’s misconceptions were a little far-fetched, I can’t help but think the hidden message was “give your child hours of fun, fresh air and excercise for Christmas.” It’s so refreshing to see an advert depicting parents setting up a toy that isn’t square, because the world isn’t.

I took another trip to New Look solely to have a peek at their revamped beauty range, and couldn’t resist another 2 of their gorgeous nail polishes.  Ruby, which is the perfect winter wine, and Glitterbug.  I’ve noticed some of them are exact dupes of more expensive nail brands such as Deborah Lippmann.  Great news for beauty addicts who want to save some bucks!

After much Amazon-ing I finally found the ultimate cat eyeliner and smoky-eye cheat… Beth Bender Beauty stencils.  Not only are these meant to help you achieve a precision you only thought you could dream of, they also save loads of time.  Soon the days of winged eyeliner making you late will be gone!

Fashion Forecast: How To Utilise Utility Chic The AW15 Way!

2015 Trends, Accessories, Colours, Fashion, High Street Heroes, How To's, Pattern & Print, Popular Culture, Retail, Style Hunting, Tips, Uncategorized

Utility style is timeless and has to be one of the easiest looks to pull off, if I was to name two high street stores that have the most practical trend down to a tee they would be H&M and Select Fashion (new entry!).

My AW15 pick: Select’s £15.99 utility pocket front shirt dresses are also available in black, navy and khaki

This season’s utility wardrobe packs more autumnal hues than ever before, online treasure trove Missguided have taken the shirt dress to new heights, incorporating denims and jazzing things up with vertical stripe and check patterns.

Shirt dress, £25 from Missguided (www.missguided.co.uk)

Burgundy stripe shirt dress, £28 (www.missguided.co.uk)

Utilitarian is undoubtedly versatile, it works in the day and at night; the introduction of the easy-to-wear shirt dress is welcome news if you want to put together a pretty yet practical ensemble for evenings out.

Select Fashion zip from utility dress in khaki, £19.99

If you’re customising a dress with your own accessories and want to play it up with some sparkle, it’s best to avoid a dress with a busy pattern and instead opt for a plain shirt dress with only subtle detail, Select have some awesome offerings and they’re under £20!

Khaki has put in another appearance as the classic “it colour” of utilitarian style whilst burgundy is big, big news this fall, it’s the best way to incorporate this year’s pantone colour Marsala into your autumnal closet.  Deep reds will forever be sexy for evening because they ooze glamour in an elusive way.  Little wonder I’ve fallen in love with Select’s wine number (above).

These dresses absolutely rock when industrialised with a biker jacket or a vintage denim, biker boots will also toughen up a dress for the day whilst your chunkiest strappy heels will maximise their edge at the bar.

Black gladiator sandals can even add that end of summer compliment to this look!

Spice up a khaki jumpsuit or dress with plenty of gold, tan and a little leppard print and a pop of red lippy.  Safari just got sexy!

Khaki and black are perfect partners for day and night!
