Make-up Monday…

Autumn Fashion, AW17, Beauty & Fragrance, Colours, Cosmetics Collections, Popular Culture, Retail

Something rather exciting is causing a stir online, thanks to its beautiful bold colours.  BH Cosmetics have just launched quite possibly the only eyeshadow collection you’ll ever need.  Studio Pro Ultimate Artistry has 42 super pigmented shades, yes, 42! This power packed palette has a shade to suit just about anyone – and there is a mixture of finishes: velvety mattes, shimmers, duo-chromes, metallics and soft shimmer shades.

Thanks to the BH Cosmetics website, we’ve got an idea of what some of these beautiful eye colours look like, and they are stunning!

Whether you’re a colour buff who loves to experiment with bold eye shades, or you like an earthier, more natural toned look, Ultimate Artistry beholds your brand new colour crush for your best eye make-up creations yet!

The palette itself has sleek, professional looking packaging like a make-up artist’s kit.  The only thing it lacks is a mirror inside the lid.  The eclectic rainbow of shades and finishes more than make up for the absence of a mirror.

What’s more, the price point of BH Cosmetics palettes isn’t as steep as the likes of Urban Decay, Violet Voss, Kat Von D and other brands that make beautiful eye palettes.  Studio Pro Ultimate Artistry retails for around $19.99, around £15 in the UK and can be ordered here:

Dupe Alert!

Beauty & Fragrance, Colours, Cosmetics Collections, DIY Health & Beauty, Economics & Finance, Fashion, High Street Heroes, Pattern & Print, Retail, SS17, Tips

There are hundreds of holy grail palettes on the market, some of which come with price tags that aren’t exactly within everybody’s reach. Many people also have an ethical reason to source a dupe rather than the original itself; while there are several make-up companies who don’t test on animals, unfortunately, some of the biggest brands are not cruelty free. While no bunnies were harmed in the making of Urban Decay’s Naked Palettes, they are a little on the pricey side, retailing at almost £40 on the UD website! Luckily, many mid-range and drugstore brands recognise such high-end price taggery and are always keeping a close watch of the beauty trends for major dupe inspiration.

Naked Heat Palette, £39.50, Urban Decay

BH Cosmetics Solar Flare, Galaxy Chic and Supernova Palettes

BH Cosmetics, from the City of Angels, are affordable, cruelty free and their products ooze plenty of LA cool! They drew lots of inspiration from the big fascination with galaxy print when they bought out their Solar Flare, Supernova and Galaxy Chic baked eyeshadow palettes, housing all of that celestial magic in the most beautifully printed compacts.

Urban Decay Moondust Palette, £36

BH Cosmetics Supernova Palette, £11.80 ($15.99) on

Super pigmented, finely milled shades that suit everyone, and Supernova has to be a definite dupe of UD’s Moondust palette, which doesn’t host as many shades as these beauties. The latest addition to the BH Cosmetics Milky Way, Solar Flare, boasts several pearlescent deep neutrals almost identical to UD Naked Heat, so much so it could safely pass as a dupe.

BH Cosmetics Solar Flare 18-colour baked eyeshadow palette, £11.80 ($15.99) on

There are benefits to rummaging the drugstores or the world wide web for dupes, you discover your new favourite cosmetic brand, you end up with a lot more product for your money, and you may find a dupe that’s even better than the real thing!

You can see the extensive range of palettes and shades at

Make-Up Revolution fans will be delighted to hear a new Flawless eyeshadow palette has hit the market. Flawless 4 is the latest of the firm favourite Pro 32 palettes and it comprises of a mixture of matte and shimmer shades, all of which are super blendable and versatile. If you are obsessed with a majestic glow, Revolution’s newest highlight palettes will be right up your street! They both boast 8 mesmerisingly beautiful shimmer shades that can be used to achieve that glowing, lit from within complexion. The soft, smooth formulation of the shades makes them super easy to blend and the shades in Ultra Cool Glow can be used to apply luminescence absolutely anywhere to deliver that touch of dimension: cheekbones, brow bones, Cupid’s bow, inner corners of your eyes.

Pro Glow 2 is a mix of white, gold and peachy shades with the same luxe, shimmering finish as the similar looking Ultra Pro Glow palette. The shades in Pro Glow 2 will add natural touches of radiance where the light would catch your skin.

Pro Glow 2 and Ultra Cool Glow, both £8, Make-Up Revolution

There’s plenty more magical glow where that came from… another one of Revolution’s irresistible new launches is the Liquid Highlighter drops. You can achieve instant radiance anywhere with this glow-getting potion, it’s so good!

Mix a drop or 2 of this reflective illuminatior into your foundation for a dewy and glowy complexion, mix a few drops into your favourite body lotion for a gorgeous all over glow. With or without make-up, Liquid Highlighter can achieve that beautiful natural glow. At £6, and available in 7 shades, this bottle of pure magic is set to rival the likes of Benefit’s High Beam and MAC’s Strobe Creams.

And can we all just take a moment to appreciate the wonderful-ness of the iridescent packaging… wow!

Lipstick lovers will love L’Oréal Paris latest Color Riche offerings. The cult classic (a Color Riche is sold every 3 seconds worldwide, wow!) is soon to be reinvented by Olivier Rousteing, who, you may or may not know, is the creative director of ultra glam designer Balmain!

L’Oréal and Balmain share the same strong values of femininity and empowerment, and the same goal of empowering women all over the world and offering them diverse ways in which they can express themselves. This lipstick collection is something that is tangible for women everywhere.

Rousteing is collaborating with L’Oréal to launch twelve bang-on trend Matte lipsticks later this month. A heavyweight fashion name designing accessible make-up we can easily invest in has us excited, excited, excited! L’Oréal’s Balmain collab is the lipstick equivalent of Charlie’s Golden Ticket, but much more collectable.

Olivier Rousteing will have full control of everything from campaign to packaging, so expect a strong Balmain influence, there will be plenty of jewel tones, marble, onyx black and, in true Balmain style, plenty of gold! These £12.99 lipstick gems will be the lipsticks to blow all of your other lipsticks out of the water, but unfortunately, the collection will be limited edition, so make plenty of room for “Confidence,” the first of 12 shades to be revealed, which is a nude-y peach coral with rose gold shimmer and a metallic matte finish.

L’Oréal x Balmain lipsticks will have a shade for absolutely everyone; whether you’re suited to soft nudes or darker, bolder rock n’ roll inspired shades like shimmery violet or even rich blue! Oliver Rousteing not being able to separate music inspiration and fashion is something to be admired.

L’Oréal x Balmain ROCK shades

L’Oréal x Balmain GLAMAZON shades

L’Oréal x Balmain COUTURE shades

Even more good news, the luxe lippies are soon to be available in larger Boots stores!
