Top Trends: January 2017

Embroidered Bags…

Gucci, Fendi, and Dolce and Gabbana have all been rolling out crossbody bags adorned with delicately stitched embroidery recently. They add a pop of colour to any ensemble. The ones I found on Polyvore will have the dainty detailing trend down to a tee!

Embroidered accessories are a subtle yet playful way to accessorize a little black dress!

Ponchos & Oversized Scarves…

Oversized knits made with cosy wool have been the comfiest way to look stylish all winter.  Missoni, H&M and Zara, to name but a few, have some of the best cosy knits in various colours and patterns.  Be it a poncho or oversized scarf, it is just the investment to ensure you stay snug through the January freeze in style.

Offset a bold coloured knit with a dark outfit, classic accessories and neutral shades for nails and make up to avoid throwing your look back to the 70’s and 80’s, which were the original poncho heydays!

“Badged Up” Denim Jeans…

Sewn on patches have been big news last year and will continue to stick around.  You don’t have to be a teenager or a youngster to appreciate this playful take on a classic casual look.

This is one of the most versatile trends of the season and you can even DIY it!  A lot of stores have sold some cool sew on patches for jeans and jackets, or if DIY isn’t your strong point, there are plenty of pre-patched styles available virtually everywhere!

My favourite way to wear embellished jeans is to dress them for the weekend with a biker jacket, and a small or medium handbag.

Winter White Blazer…

White has been a popular hue for jackets and blazers this winter.  Not as frequently seen as the black biker or other styles, a white jacket or Blazer is one of the trends best paired with ripped jeans and a casual T-shirt or sweater underneath to avoid repeating a look of its tackier yesteryears.

Keeping accessories simple and make-up on the more neutral side will keep the look crisp, fresh and ready to take on 2017!
