I can’t be the only one who only has to look at something deep sea blue on scorching days like this to instantly think of refreshing, cooling treats.

Some of my favourite Summertime Blues: Victoria’s Secret Aqua Kiss, Mavala Cyclades Blue, Nails Inc Special Effects in Fitzroy Square, Barry M Molten Metals, Mavala Blue Curucao and Maui Moisture Coconut Milk Weightless Oil Mist

Curucao, an ocean inspired blue shade inspired by its namesake Caribbean island, is the type of summer blue that goes swimmingly well with poolside afternoons well spent at your favourite holiday destination.

Essie’s Beach Bum Blu, a pale metallic teal, is one of those nail colours that always evokes memories of Mediterranean adventures to Spanish and Greek Islands.

Mavala’s Curucao Blue is similar. It’s a stunning aqua blue with slight a shimmer finish. Whether you’re rocking out at an electric festival or chilling by the sea, this bold teal is just ideal for summer, so is the similar Cyclades Blue, which is more of a Santorini inspired, dreamy blue.

Victoria’s Secret Fragrance Mists have been getting a lot of use this Summer; Aqua Kiss has to be my favourite. It’s the most refreshing blend of Rain Kissed Freesia and Daisy that instantly revitalises.

Maui Moisture, the next big thing in eco-friendly, beautifully packaged haircare, boasts one of the lightest, hair hydrators around. Made with 100% pure aloe juice, coconut milk, mango butter and guava oil, one spritz of this paraben free formula will quench thirsty strands without weighing hair down.

Inspired by all the glittering confections of the finest Parisian cafes, the S’il Vous Play collection will take you on a whimsical journey through the chic streets of the city of style, decadence and love with soft pastels and a shimmering metallic that is absolutely delectable.

Anything with a Parisian theme or style has always drawn me in, and I know I’m not the only one attracted to the kitsch wanderlust of the city of lights.  Seeing this Essie collection is making me crave macarons, maintenant…

Nothing beats the feeling of getting your hands on a product you’ve being eyeing up for ages. I had a few hallelujah moments on a recent shopping trip.

First of all I re-stocked on my favourite foundation of all time, Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation. This is extremely easy to apply with my trusty Real Techniques stippling brush and it delivers a lit from within healthy glow without streaking or showing tell-tale orange lines. Being pale skinned, the best shade for me is 20 Watts. Yes, being a radiance enhancing foundation, it’s shades are named after light bulb wattages, very appropriate. The darker the shade, the higher the wattage number.

I’m also a fan of Make-up Revolution, that offer cutting edge innovations in make-up without the professional price tag, and their products are available at Superdrug! My most recent addition to my Revolution palette haul is the Hard Day Eyeshadow palette. There’s 18 neutral and smoky shades, 12 of which are shimmer and the other 6 matte. The colours look super versatile and wearable for any occasion, with this line up, I’m already dreaming up my next evening smoky eye look!

Recently, I’ve been drawn to metallic “lip toppers” that can be worn alone or over your favourite lipstick to create a velvet matte, shimmery finish to your pout. Having fallen in love with the Lime Crime Diamond Crushers, I have also invested in Kiko’s Lip Top Coat. It’s exclusive application wand rolls the product onto your lips to deliver smooth, satin-y shine in seconds.

Unlike Lime Crime’s Diamond Crushers, the Kiko Lip Top Coat is quite fluid and watery in consistency and has to be shaken up before you apply it to mix the shimmer.

Essie are one of the best brands for an unlimited variety of bright, on trend colours. I must own tons of Essie’s bestselling shades. My two recent additions for spring are Lots of Lux, which is a shimmering lapiz blue with a superfine matte glitter finish and Jewel In The Crown, which is a very bright, modern and edgy plum with shimmer that looks fuchsia in some lights.

Mani Monday: Mega Metallics…

Metallics for nails are enjoying a moment. Like wearing foil on your fingertips, there are plenty of liquid metals that will put the bling into this spring.

Rose gold remains popular for accessories, Penny Talk, from Essie’s Mirror Metallics collection is a statement making, incandescent copper that’ll be right on your radar if you love anything rose gold.

Essie Penny Talk, is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009YHFIP2/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1491817079&sr=8-4&keywords=essie+penny+talk

Gold and silver are classic, timeless and will give an instant futuristic look to fingertips.  The richly oxidised nickel of Essie’s No Place Like Chrome, also from the Mirror Metallics collection, makes for the perfect silver.

Essie No Place Like Chrome… can’t find it in Boots stores…? Look on Amazon! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mirror-Metallics-Essie-Chrome-13-5ml-x/dp/B009YHC0XU

Another classic shade from Essie’s magical collection is Good As Gold, a timeless liquid gold that will look ultra flattering on anyone, and it’s a rock solid shade that looks spellbinding all year round!

Essie Good As Gold, if you can’t find any gold at the drugstores, Amazon is your place to look! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Essie-Mirror-Metallics-Polish-13-5ml/dp/B009YGNC74

While gold, silver and rose gold coppers are a classic and timeless finishing touch to any look this SS17, there are a some more unexpected colour contenders making the metallic grade too…

The other two mysterious shades in this classic Essie collection also pack egg-cellent pastel power for Easter, but they’re pastels with a twist…

Essie, Nothing Else Metals is available at Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Essie-Polish-Nothing-else-Metals/dp/B007ZR2S7E

Nothing Else Metals is a lovely spring lilac that breaks with tradition, a pale lavender with plenty of added metallic shine.  Feminine enough to finish off a lace ensemble, while edgy enough to wear with leather, the versitality of Nothing Else Metals makes it wearable for anyone, and one of my all time personal favourites.

Sail down the Amazon for this amazing watercolour blue! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Essie-Mirror-Metallics-Rhapsody-Polish/dp/B007ZR2RIE

Blue Rhapsody is a pale Air Force blue that’s had a heavy metal makeover.  With ample depth and shine, this perfect poolside hue will fly the rock n’ roll skies all summer!

Essie’s Spring collection this year is beyond stunning.  The colours have that tropical California vibe to them and you’ll want to get them all!

America’s number 1 salon nail brand have called their latest colourful collection Baha Monent, after one of the collection’s namesake shades, which is an enlightening pomegranate toned pink shade perfect for SS17.

Other shades in the collection are On The Roadie, which is a vibrant Kelly green, All The Wave, a sapphire toned indigo blue, Designated DJ, a plum sangria cream, Backseat Besties, a delicate pink plumeria and Excuse Me, Sur, a pale sun-kissed coral mango.

Baha Moment collection colours have already been on sale at larger Boots stores and you can also find the latest shades on Amazon too.  I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these beauties.  Which shades will be your favourites…?

Pantone 2017 Preview & Inspirations!

2016 & trends, Accessories, Art, Beauty & Fragrance, Celebrating, Celebrations, Colours, Cosmetics Collections, DIY Health & Beauty, Fashion, High Street Heroes, Nails, Pattern & Print, Popular Culture, Retail, Shoes, Special Occasions, Style Hunting, Tips

It’s s bit early to think about the New Year but I’m just as excited as anyone else to find out the Pantone colour for 2017…

After the unpredictable hardships and shock deaths of this year, Greenery is just the hue to spring us into some new beginnings.

It’s a freshly squeezed colour that for me not only connotes connections with nature and forestry but also represents the feeling of brand newness you get with starting a new year, a new school, new job, new home, new relationship, a new anything. It’s a colour many would associate with shamrocks and luck, often needed when you are about to embark on a new chapter of your life.

After the dark uncertainties of this year (how many inspirational people are we still grieving for…?), Pantone Universe seem to have read our minds, 2017 needs some green shoots of luck to make up for how tough 2016 has been. Greenery is just the right feel-good shade to see us through a hopefully more positive year.

Greenery joins other complimentary colours that already have a firm place on the catwalks and in stores.

Nude colours, especially for nails and accessories have been big news, and have paved the way for the introduction of Pale Dogwood and Hazlenut. Niagara blue has also been popular but I think I’d have called this shade military blue. Another green shade in the Pantone 2017 line up is Greenery’s darker companion Kale. Not quite a forest green, but not so pale it’s considered mint, it is somewhere in between.

Here’s hoping the bold, eclectic collection of next year’s key colours is a true picture of happier times to come and that 2017 will be a more promising year!

This week I have been looking at all of the new beauty and cosmetic launches for Fall and Winter and have to say I have come across some absolute gems I’m sure will become best sellers.

Nail wise I am loving the Winter 2016 collection from America’s No1 salon nail experts, Essie, who have released possibly the most colourful nail collection for this time of year.  The first thing that pops into your head when you think “Winter Nail Collection” and people often think of cold hues like grey, slate and black or plums and wines; so Essie’s turnout was a pleasant surprise.  There’s something for everyone in this collection.

If you love deep reds and wines then Ready To Boa (glistening bronze mahogany) and Party On A Platform (London garnet red) won’t disappoint.  There’s also a metallic gold called Getting Groovy, the collection’s namesake and one of my favourites.  Satin Sister is another one of my favourite shades and it’s described as a sleek ebony peacock blue.  For those of you that like to stick to neutrals then your manicures and pedicures will ooze plenty of chic with Oh Behave! (nude peach frost) and Go With The Flowy (cloud like dove grey).  Essie’s collection is said to take some inspiration from the London 60’s party scene, hence the shade names, but clever Essie have also tailored the six shades to the upcoming festive season.

Satin Sister & Getting Groovy as a metallic accent!

New Look have also had an exciting time with the launch of their much overhauled and extended cosmetic and beauty range on November 13, that will be available at their larger stores.  Wolverhampton’s store had so many goodies.  New Look weren’t bad at ticking beauty trend boxes before but oh my they’ve upped their game with sleek packaging and winning formulas sure to rival higher end cosmetic lines.  The majority of the products are purse friendly under £10.

The Oxygen Nail Growth Formula is inspired by pricier nail care products on the market and works to promote the growth of your natural nails.  I landed a bargain here, £3.99 and I’m looking forward to using it and seeing it deliver.

A lot of their nail colours embrace the hottest trends.  Matte and gel formula polishes also make up their nail collection.  I picked up 2 shimmery metallics, Mermaid (sea blue) and Petrol (shimmery red toned copper).  New Look have also included baked bronzers, blushers and highlighters which are similar to MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Powders.  If you’re looking for an amazing smelling body wash or body lotion, they have also released some gorgeous smelling bath, body and skincare treats too.  Honey and Almond body wash has to be my favourite of these, but they also have other scents like Coconut and Rose.

Honey & Almond body wash (above) and Coconut & Rose body wash, £3.99 each in New Look beauty range

It seems there isn’t a thing New Look haven’t thought of beauty wise, with plenty of promising facial skincare and hair care products making up the range too.

Detox Tea Tree Purifying Face Mask, £4.99

Coconut Oil Body Melt Body Butter, £7.99

With Christmas just around the corner, their gift sets look so irresistible you’ll want to keep them for yourself!

Mini Rollerball Fragrances Set, £9.99

4 Pack Liquid Lipstick Collection, £14.99

Metallic Holographic False Nails, £3.99

5 Pack Ombré Brush Set, £14.99

I could have easily bought a lot more of these New Look treats and I’m looking forward to wrapping some of them up as gifts this Christmas.

Garnier Ultimate Blends range of hair products and body lotions was something I’d also heard great things about and I’m so glad I discovered The Sleek Restorer Hair Oil.

It’s a multi-use hair oil that is formulated with coconut oil, which has been proven to be one of the best natural hair conditioners.  Used before and after styling it protects against the more unwanted effects of straightening and curling (frizz, flyaways, split ends).  Being a multitasker this product is also great for pre-nourishing your hair before you wash it for added suppleness.  Using The Sleek Perfector, I have noticed my hair stays straighter and sleeker for longer.

The Garnier Honey Treasures Body Restoring Lotion is also worth a try if you’re looking for a body moisturiser that’s easily absorbed.  This has a slight honey smell but isn’t at all overpowering and leaves your skin feeling amazingly soft, I highly recommend.

And finally I’ll finish off with something limited edition.  Vaseline’s recent collaboration with Lulu Guinness has delivered one of the most stylish lip balm tins around.  Limited edition tins are something Vaseline are no stranger to.  Queen Bee, Pink Bubbly and Paint The Town Red also proved very popular.
